About Katie Garrett, Founder of G-Whiz Kids
For the past 15 years, Katie has cultivated her passion for helping children learn. She is a graduate of Vanderbilt University with degrees in both Cognitive Studies and Child Psychology, and she is a certified Handwriting Without Tears® Specialist.
Katie’s studies provided her with a unique foundation for understanding the science of the mind and the process by which children learn to think, solve problems and reason. Her work at Vanderbilt gave her the hands-on, functional learning and understanding that is the key to helping children who need an academic boost. Katie fully understands how various cognitive abilities influence the learning process and she understands that no two children learn alike. Through years of volunteer tutoring and mentoring, Katie has honed her skills in building rapport with children and identifying factors that motivate them to learn. She also stays current with the latest educational trends via continuing education classes. Katie is dedicated to helping each child achieve their greatest academic potential by using fun, multi-sensory methods that cater to individual learning styles.
